Hey Rob, how can I "eat clean" and consume enough calories everyday I dont want to lose weight. I ate clean for around three weeks and my skin improved dramatically but I lost so much weight,I was starting to look like a long distance runner. I have a physical job and train at the gym at least 4 times per week so need to at least maintain my weight. please help.
+PRODIGY1234100 That depends on if you have fat or toxins in your body. If you are eating clean and working out and being physical it will be no problem to put on or keep as much muscle as you like (most the time once you get into your rythm its way easier) but if you have fat it will go away. Im working out and playing upwards of 20 hours per week and Im actually gaining weight ( all muscle no fat) on a crazy clean all plant based whole food diet. I also dont eat a crap load of calories. When your cleaned out, toxin free and your hormones are on point you really dont want or need as much fuel either... everything we were taught about health and gaining muscle is ass backward 99% of the time. It took me years to de learn what muscle and fitness destroyed my brain with :). Hello Rod, I wonder if you've ever heard of a autoimmune disease called interstitial cystitis. Alcohol needs to be processed like a poison in the body. It causes toxic build up and stresses the digestion and the liver. That causes inflammation..
Every morning I have my tea with turmeric and ginger I extract my ginger in a juicer... And honey... It give u some much energy try it u would love it :). I am by no means an expert on chrons. My advise would be the foods on this list. Get plenty of rest and fresh air. Make sure you gut is healthy and working well..

I think that if your vegan and lacking in b vitamins then it can be helpful. There are a lot of foods that help certain people with inflammation. You have to understand that I come from a yogic background. Onions are considered rajistic which means they can cause to much fire and can throw digestion off for some people. Poor digestion and assimilation leads to inflammation. I would recommend daily before retiring to bed (about 1 hour before sleeping). It will help you get a good nights sleep. It's a good idea to use it regularly. The tea is Chamomile tea - fresh ginger works better than powder IMO and always use organic wherever possible for the best results. This drink heals my allergies and inflammation very effectively :).

A while back I read a similar study on herbs/spices that act like COX2 inhibitors, you know like OTC NSAIDs, Advil, Aleve, etc., that reduce inflammation. What was shown that they can also have the same negative side effects, such as increased risk of bleeding, GI problems etc. And since they've never measured amounts/ dosages, you'd be on your own guessing how much that would be. Mega dosing, not recommended..
I'm a bit confused, because there is the view that disease is your body's attempt to heal you, so an inflammation would be a healing process and if we reduce inflammation, we slow don't healing. Do I understand it wrong.

Nice experiment! Curcumin can have some noticeable effects on my guts (crohn). Other TNFalpha inhibitor that I've found are: magnesium, vitamin D, colostrum, omega3, probiotics, l-glutamine, boswellia, aloe vera, licorice extract, CLA and cannabis. Curcumin would also be NOD2 gene innibitor, a gene that is supposed to be a factor in IBD..

Yes, it IS ceylon cinnamon...you can find a nice 1 pound bag of it at Amazon for about $20...otherwise, it's about $6 for a small bottle of it at Whole Foods. I use about 1 Tablespoon each day along with about 1/3 teaspoon ground cloves which are way high in antioxidants...another good Greger video is "Antioxidants in a Pinch" in case anyone is interested. .

I'm slightly confused as to why a consumer would go to fish oil for docosahexaenoic acid, if the true source is in fact plant based (the algae the fish eat). Besides eating flax meal or flax oil (which provides both omega 3 & 6), plenty of vegans and vegetarians have known for a long time about where the fish seem to get the abundance of omega 3. It's actually far easier to digest than fish oil too XD.. If you actually wanna get rid of your acne use Accutane. It's the only medicine that will cure it.. how often do u comb ur hair if u have dreadlocks or whatever u have cuz im thinking of getting them..

Recently I've been having very unusual cystic spots and I have noticed that I have been hugely craving fish, green veg, bananas, honey with everything and generally a lot of fruit. Farmers feed cows stale candy when the price of feed goes up. I thought this was a joke but when I googled it I found a lot of information on it. Good reason to go grass fed with beef.. How funny, I use ripe avocado as a "salad dressing" too. Just chop it up into cubes then mush around into your salad mix & I make avocado smoothies too. :).
I've also read this many years ago, that Ginger is useful for musculoskeletal inflammation, and also for rheumatism. At one point I was taking it in lieu of ibuprofen. Though I don't know how it affects acne, and also it can be harsh on the stomach if eaten raw. Caps are good though. .
It does help... they do have a lot of nutrients. Just eat a lot of vegetables and whatever else you would eat, plus rice, beans, etc... and eat egg yolks for nutrients. You can also get ghee, which is clarified butter without any of the allergenic dairy proteins.. it's just pure dairy fat. It's very nutritious. . In tried taking fish oil pills and they made me break out like crazy. you may be allergic to sea food or at least to part of it, for example, i eat fish and never have problem with it, ive tried a lot of different fishes, so i never thought i would have a problem with sea food, but whenever i eat lobster my throat starts to itch a little, nothing serious, i dont know if it worsens my acne though, never paid attention to it since im always breaking out, but maybe it does have an effect, next time i eat lobster ill try to see if it makes a difference.

I believe that intake of calories is a misconception. A person who eats a diet consisting of 5,000 calories a day, but only 10% of those calories are from fat, will likely have a BMI that is much healthier than the person who eats a diet consisting of 2,000 calories a day, but 50% of those calories are from fat. Where is the science to back this stuff up How come they recommend eating stuff that your grandma would recognize and next thing we see are smoothies and juices where people are asked to guess what's in it. I doubt my grandma knew what Quinoa or chia seed pudding was. I believe that most of us can eat better. But I'm unconvinced that these recommendations are necessarily the answer. I'd have hoped that MDs would be up there pointing to research and studies that support their conclusions. As it is, this is no better than all the rest of the pop-nutrition that is floating around there - complete with cutesy names like "hangry" and the discussion of so-called super-foods. Some of the recommendations are vague - like reducing alcohol and coffee consumption. I don't consume any alcohol, but studies suggest I should be drinking a glass of red wine each evening. Also, caffeine is one of the most studied substances around and the general consensus is that 2-3 cups in the morning is fine and has positive mental benefits. Just don't drink it 7-8 hours before bedtime. What's missing in the discussion presented is any sense of "dose". Of course, some of this is just plain common knowledge or common sense. And some of it is disputed (like whether fish oils are something that should be generally recommended). But mostly its unsupported and hence it has added essentially nothing to my knowledge on the subject. It was a wasted hour..
