    I have a 1998 cavalier. the 15 degree monday a week ago busted 5 inch crack in it. we got replacement radiator and all hoses, and another reservoir for back up. Put the replacement radiator in no inside heat and now dripping trans fluid from bottom hose near radiator. Also put new thermostat in but hits steaming quickly with it in. to even be able to drive around town have to leave thermostat out!! What could be the problem tired of buying all this antifreeze, its not cheap!!!´╗┐.

    There should be water coming out of your tail pipe. If not then your catalytic converter isn't working right´╗┐.
    I am so lost on where to start. My car burns oil (I assume burning as I see no oil stains anywhere the car sits) at a fast rate. I don't know if it's head gasket, seals, or any of the other things I keep seeing or reading. Can not afford to take to a shop and can not afford a new engine. Those are off the table.     One way to check is to give the whole engine a good pressure cleaning and then put some uv liquid for oil ( about $10 at auto parts store) in, run it and then shine a black light on it at night to check for leaks. Mine was leaking at an oil cooler fitting that only the uv pointed out easily.´╗┐.

    Hi scotty, so what lead me to your video is because i think i have a blown head gasket on my car, my car yesterday began to leak coolant out from the bottom front of the car. It happened when i put my foot down on the Highway.. i noticed steam began to emerge from my hood openings. i checked and coolant was leaking bad, it also looked like if the coolant was sprayed all over the side where the radiator cap is.. today i drove the car normal and no leak at all.     Hey Scotty, I have a 2004 civic with 213,000 miles on it and I recently got a check engine light. It started to get a little cooler here in Austin Texas and when I turned it on it would idle rough, but soon go back to normal. Recently it idled rough and then the engine light came on even though it went back to normal. It says it has a cylinder 2 misfire, i tried to change the spark plug but there was oil in where the coil goes and the boot was corroded. The spark plug didn't look foul but I changed it anyway and removed the oil from the coil and plug. I realize that the valve cover gasket may need to be changed. But that didn't work. And I'm losing a bit of coolant every day though my reservoir stays full. It causes me to overheat at low speed but at normal speed it's completely fine. The fans are still kicking on at low speed, I'm very confused.´╗┐.

    +Scotty Kilmer Hey Scotty, I have an 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix, about 6 months ago my car started to have a low coolant light so I kept adding coolant every time it would come up, but I wasn't to worried because gm used dexcol which I am sure you know turns into red sludge my dad switched to normal coolant within a couple of years of running dexcol all of the coolant levels were good so I just thought it was the dexcol that clogged the system or it was just an small electrical problem. anyway I was pulling up my drive way and I heard an explosion like noise so I imminently turned off the car and looked all over the engine for fire or oil pouring out of places but I didn't find any leaks, so I pulled it in my garage and let the car sit, I latter found out the my strut broke and fell onto my tire which is the only thing holding the strut up the car. So I blamed the explosion noise on the strut, the car sat all winter and summer, I wanted to wash the car so I was going to pull the car out, but decided to check the oil first, there was about a quart more oil on the dipstick then the max line is and it looks a little off color, the car has on oil leak and its a little more than a drip, but even after all this siting around the oil level is still the same and I don't see oil on my cardboard boxes I have so it will not stain my floor. I bought 4 struts and wheel bearings and I will need tires as well, I really love this car and going to put a lot of money into the car to get it back, all the money I earn goes to this car in upgrades, I was going to do the struts myself, but my mom and dad want to get the car towed and make sure the frame is solid the car is really straight so I am not worried about that, but I told my dad about the oil and he things the gasket is blown or the block cracked could you tell me how bad my problem might be and what could my problem could be. thanks´╗┐.

    Hi, i have a 1989 Isuzu Piazza (inpulse in usa) and my headgasket is leaking coolant out of the engine underneath the exhaust manifold. The thing i have measure the amount im losing, which is none out of the tank and about 10ml per 40mile out of the radiator. I dont know whether the leave it to next year to be done, put some k seal in it or get it done now. The car does not overheat and the coolant and oil have not mixed. I do not add coolant as it does not lower. Do you think it may be an Intake Manifold Gasket´╗┐.
    You don't really need a kit to check that. Just look for oil in coolant and look at the level of coolant. If engine is loosing power and overheat it means your head gasket is blown ´╗┐.

    I have owned many Jap bikes since 1980. Enjoyed them all. I can buy any bike I want, but now ride a Sportster Iron, and this will probably be the last bike I own. My choice, right decision for me. No need for slander if you are a real bike rider.´╗┐.

    I've owned em all.. shovels, evo's, sporty's & twin cam. I like the evo's, but i think the best set up would be an '06 twin cam, carburated {last yr of the carb} & up grade the cam tensioners to gear 2 gear.. that's my personal opinion b/c the carb eliminates a lot of 'fuel tank' maintance & easy to rebuild when needed & fewer electronics...´╗┐.
    All this talk and articles about Harley twin cam motors being a bad design. I have no problems with my TC96. I only have about 15,000 miles on it. I recently opened the cam chest to upgrade the cams and my tensioners look fine. I ride with someone who has 70k and he did have to replace the outer cam chain tensioner at 30k once on his TC88. Easy to do and his motor still runs strong with no problems. I still say the evolution Sportster motors are the best designed and running Harley motors ever made! ´╗┐. +Ob Fuscated i'm on my alt account. And yeah I was referring to the secondary drives which I made a mistake in mentioning the cam drive.. The cams should be gear driven since they are close to the crank. But It's mainly the tensioners that fail though. timing chain is generally VERY reliabile. When you look at most modern Metric 4 cylinder bikes. they use a nice long tensioner that has a very firm even area of pressure with much lower volume of wear. But those tiny tensioners with that little plastic shoe reminds me of the small plastic parts often found inside of briggs and stratton motors. Just made to break.´╗┐. +Peace My CBR650F doesn't have to be checked for nothing after 10k. only the tires at 8k miles. drive chain and sprocket have to be changed at 40k miles (like on all sport bikes). But other than that the engine is rock solid and you almost NEVER have to mess with it. There have been plenty of reports of people riding CBR600's getting well over 100k miles out of it. And this is an engine that revs to 15k and stays in the high rev range even when cruising on the freeway. That's saying something about modern engineering advancements.´╗┐.

The cam drive is a disaster waiting to happen, and it is not easy to rebuild one of these engines, thanks to the Japanese design and manufacturing techniques they are now using (on an AMERICAN motorcycle) Notice the pressed together crank/con rods. No more regrinding the crank and installing undersize bearings. You have to replace the entire assembly. The whole engine is built that way, making it cheaper to replace than rebuild. Having rebuilt several Shovels and EVOs, I find this very sad. Just part of today's disposable, throwaway culture. ´╗┐. +deadballo You are 100% WRONG! I have 2 Harley-Davidson's and they do not leak even 1 drop of oil. It would seem that you actually know nothing about the brand but rather you repeat bull shit that you have heard. Handle bars are one of the best upgrades. Completely changes the bike. I'm 6'5" so forwards are mandatory. The only thing I don't like about Victory is the after market parts just aren't available. For Harley there's endless possibilities plus there's a lot more dealers around if you need parts! ´╗┐.

    I have a 2010 Super Glide Custom with same engine. It is the only bike I've ever owned. Remapping the EFI is definitely worth it. I suggest you try that with your Dyna. Enjoy your rides.´╗┐.

Bikes will be shipped in essentially kit form from the U.S., with final assembly to take place in India. That is not exactly selling out. In fact, they recently renegotiated labor contracts in Wisconsin, in order to be able to afford to keep manufacturing there. ´╗┐.
    This video I found it quite interesting because it demonstrates the application of technology in an area quite striking as the engines developed by Harley-Davidson. The assembly of each piece calls attention, since the methods used appear to be the best. Francisco Villatoro´╗┐.

    I was taught Oil grease and Vasoline when building engines. Some oil pumps are packed with Vasoline during building...I think that's no longer the case. Dry bearings are a no-no, so MAYBE the bearings were pre lubed and they just didn't show it.´╗┐.

    We used assenbly grease for things like cam followers, uncaged roller bearings, etc because they held them in place. Oil is fine for other things. I would never run piston rings dry becasue you get "galling" and can break a ring. Cool vid. ´╗┐.

    I watched it again very carefully - they did slip a ring compressor in very fast. It's not easy to see in the video, but they did it. I didn't see any assembly lube, but I guess it could be in the cylinder already. I noticed they didn't protect the pistons from the head studs. ´╗┐.

    Hi all! I just bought a 2013 Dyna Super Glide with the 96 CI (1584 CC) engine and I find it to be a BEAST!!! I had a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 and LOVED it but this bike is definitely not the same. My Vulcan felt heavy and rode smooth as glass, the Harley feels lite and has some vibration while rolling but not terrible. It handles TERRIFIC!!! I can turn tighter and stop sooner. For handling...the Harley beats my old bike. I hope it holds up as well as others claim...I love all bikes! EVEN JAP ONES!´╗┐.
