So i should quit the 5 mile runs and replace it with some 50 yard sprints with rest in between. Kind of like the way football players train. That would explain why football players seem to have the highest testosterone out of all athletes..
The problem with HIIT (fly or flight mechanism), it pretty fucks up your nervous system, it is so intense, your mind can't keep up with it for the long term, as a personal trainer, i have seen pretty nasty neurological/psychological problems with many clients who came to me and say: we were happy and slim then suddenly we gained weight, suddenly we came depressed, some of them even developed panic attack and disorders and when i track their past workout/food regimen, the one turning point of their life was some sort of HIIT workout (crossfit, bodypump, insanity, circuit training etc...) which put their body and mind under too much pressure. I realized after some period of time of doing HIIT, they have gained all the weight back (if not more), and they have developed all kind of intense cravings and neurological disorders! I'm not saying HIIT has no benefits but it is not sustainable at any form, and it has more dangers then benefits for lot of people, nothing can beat the regular moderate exercises for mind and body health as well as longevity. I do agree if you exercise for long distance for 3 hours daily that's too much and it has negative impacts but little moderate (jogging, walking, strength,cycling etc... ) training for up to one hour is far more superior than any kind of training. In today fitness industry, we need to get rid off the "the athlete, solider, warrior, no pain no gain" mentality if we want our clients to enjoy exercising and get most of the benefits. Also let's not forget diet..

For men and women I don't want to / can't increase testosterone… What is a women increasing.
I absolutely love long distance cycling, and thought that it was doing me good too. So what changes do I have to make here I go to the gym 3 times a week and do HIIT. Will I lose muscle of I combine HIIT with a hobby like cycling which I really enjoy. Men, don't be on the treadmill for more than 30 minutes!! If even that! That's what women do! DO STRENGTH TRAINING..
I loved what you said at the end. Because i have recently started working out again. And i have been working out every day. And it gets difficult sometimes by i do it. But i will make sure to only do small concentrated muscle workouts every other day. And do my large muscle groups on the days in between. Thanks for your great info/facts..

Dr pompa, is almond oil ok for cooking it was not mentioned as good or bad in your book. also is vinegar ok on your cellular healing diet . what's with very short 100% sprints ~ 50-100m. It uses the Creatin phosphate energy system very much. But not so much the muscle glycogen. So what do you think about it.

What about sports for example a basketball game goes on for more than an hour, but is it still considered burst training because you aren't going all out for the whole game but you do short bursts throughout the game. Hi Dr.Pompa ! So you're saying, if I do this for about 10-15mins a day, every other day, i can increase my growth hormones, thus helping me grow a few more inches .
I heard (yes i said heard) that if you run with high intensity after weight lifting you can lose muscle what is your take on this. I have been giving this one exercise to people for years. Maybe time is catching up! The biggest problem I find with giving advice is you cannot control the persons desire and discipline. They want to succeed, you want them to succeed, you encourage but if they have to do the work. I invented an exercise aid, after I show it's use to people, I toss it on the floor and say, that aid does absolutely nothing if it just sits. . 2 PompaHealthSolutions 2 wyciskTV No Dr. Pompa says you can not do more than 1 session of his 10 minutes interval trainer every 2 days! You can start afterward. Although I don't know why! All his patient in one of his youtube vid said was I think, "..no because that is the day that my body is trying to burn fat..." and Dr. Pompa said something, "..exactly..." Which makes no sense at all to me either. Dr. Pompa why EXACTLY are you suggesting to not interval train for more than 1nce every 2 days.
Finally someone that knows what they're talking about! I can vouch for this type of high intensity cardio. I tried walking for 45mins in the morning, jogging for a half hour or biking for hours on end, but my body didn't shed any fat. It's like my metabolism just laughs at low intensity exercises. So I just did some thinking and realized that sprinters, pole vaulters, swimmers etc all had lean physiques and they don't train endlessly on long distance stuff. Anyway, just try it, it works. .

Thank you Dr. Pompa for bringing thses workout priciples back to life again. This was discovered over 10,000 years ago by the Wrestlers and Martial Artists in India and China in regards to developing the body with less time but higfh intensity-also known as: Combat Conditioning. What the hell happened Why did we forget I believe that it was the LIE of BodyBuilding and Modern day Gym influences that made us go the wrong direction. Even the great Charles Atlas trained only 25 mins a day. .

Dr Pompa, i've been doing the Burst Training for a month, haven't really changed the way i've eaten and i've lost one dress size! I used to do long 30-40 min three times a week but i just found myself exhausted. With Burst training, i'm at the gym a lot less and i have tons of energy. I have a question, on the rest days, would you recommend doing something like yoga or pilates would that interfere with the fat burning zone.
eventually the rest of the world catches on, same with vit. D. people are too lazy and used to the instant gratifications of a fast paced world... unfortunately.. I am into self defense and I hit the heavy bag for 3 minutes no stop, then i rest, then I do it again about 6 sets. After this I shadow box like I am really fighting someone, then I rest. I am in my fifties but still must watch what I eat for dinner. I can't have anything after dinner or my stomach will bloat. I also weight train with supersets, this is the only way my body gets pumped. Muscles are hard to keep hard at this age and i have been exercising my whole life..

That Dr. that boo who this concept is nothing more than a money grubbing reedy practitioner that just doesn't want natural perspectives to put a dent in his business. We exercise our heart with cardio, our legs, but muscles ,back and arms but forget about our face, exercising your face can also help strengthen your eyesight and having a good arm weightlifting regime can strengthen your neck jowl muscles and hairline, it works but you just got a do it.. I've tried facial yoga and I must say that it works definitely! I'm 18 years and look quite young for my age (Generally people in my family age very slowly, so no surprise) but I had hanging eyelids. I'm doing eyelid exercises for 3 weeks and I can say that they almost stopped hanging! Now just a bit but it's not comparable with before. So yes, face yoga does work, at least for me. I still prefer doing some exercises that cost nothing instead of paying a high amount of money for cosmetic surgeon.. I'm not suprised that this doctor said something critically. People today prefer eating thousands of pills and surgery etc. instead of trying it with natural things... if the natural thing doesn't work, then you can try it with the common medicine, of course..

Anybody can end up getting acne breakouts. My own older friend had acne as badly as his young boy. Each had been able to remedy themselves after they discovered the Acne Executioner (Google it). Many people won’t be as fortunate as them but find out about it if you like.. I would rather look ridiculous for a few mintues, than look ridiculous for the rest of my life. I'm getting both of their books.. Haha, of course the plastic surgeon is going to say it doesn't work. Information like this would take some money out of his pocket. You are exactly right about the plastic surgeon, and most doctors are the same, they will refute anything that takes a new set of golf clubs away from them. If you know any trumpet players or musicians that plays a horn or flute...look at their facial definition, they have tremendous facial muscling. And no wrinkles around that area. just muscle..

The surgeon says it won't work, so don't do it. Riiiiight. :-/ Ignore ANY doctor who tells you that exercise won't work. Personally, I've seen the results of this form of exercise, and it really does work. As with any exercise regimen, get all the information you can and concentrate on doing the exercises properly..

Of course the cosmetic surgeon would say it doesn't work, why would anyone go get a facelift when they can strenghten the muscles and tone up themselves I have been them for three years, am 45 and most think I am in my early 30;s,.

Senta Maria Runge published her book "Face Lifting by Exercise" in 1961.This book is available through Amazon. She also had a tv program in California. She used white gloves to prevent slippage and cream around the eyes to prevent wrinkles.Get her book. She's the one in 1961 who came up with these exercises. She retired in 1989..

2 jennyramos9 Just an aside, your jelly belly may not actually be fat, it may be stretched skin from pregnancy & will never go back. My son is 16, I have a six pack & 20% body fat. Still got the loose skin. Maybe see your GP over the fact you find it hard to pull your belly in - your abs might have got separated during pregnancy (It'll feel soft if you push hard on the belly button) that might need an operation if that's what happened..

Awesome workout moves. But I find it kind of hard to push my navel towards my back a have a belly do pregnancy and having my son. I would like to knw if I should jog first and then do toning moves after I loose the belly.
2 jennyramos9 do both cardio (your jogging) & toning moves. your body needs both. Pull the belly button in, just breath in. don't worry about not getting it far or if it's hard, just do what you can. Pilates is fantastic for firming tums, especially after babies & it'll give a great foundation for all exercise. .

Great video, as people age their posture tends implode the upper body which effects everyhting from organs to breathing patterns, and as people age their stride becomes shorter when walking.. +gerard f I too see many people who have their upper body entirely out of whack. Strengthening and stretching muscles becomes even more important as you age. The lower body weakens first, so that's why people should especially do strengthening exercises on their legs.. passing this video on to my dad. I've been subscribed for three weeks since I found your channel, I love the content brother! keep it up..

I disagree with MANY of the points this guy makes. We will see as he ages if he feels the same way he feels now on some of the things he says. But then again he is making big money on what he is peddling now..
+Tod Becraft What do you disagree with Sprinting is awesome. Just don't be an idiot and go out there and try to do 40's or 100's. In the end, you can't out train a bad diet, Sprints work. I'm in my 40's and have been sprinting for two years. Feels great.. Well I disagree with him when he said Olympic Athletes like Ben Johnson etc who were tested with high growth hormone levels turned out to just have high GH and hormone levels from the way they train. The Olympic athletes that were caught with high GH levels etc were taking synthetic GH. I know a few former Olympic athletes and drugs are a huge part of any top level sport including the Olympics. ben Johnson for example was tested positive for a substance that isn't even a natural occurring hormone in the body. I disagree with him when he says you don't need any supplementation such as vitamins, minerals, whey protein, fish oils etc. I don't believe in the 21st century you can get enough nutrients through food no matter how much good food you eat. I believe there is a huge need for supplementation to be used with along with good healthy eating in order to get the amount of proper nutrients that an individual and especially an athlete needs. i do agree with him about not needing added Creatine supplementation. Every time you urinate & sweat you pee and sweat out more than water, so to just replace the body with water and expect to get your water soluable vitamins and minerals through food only isn't feasible. Also, he is young so it is hard for him to see this right now but as you age your hormones including GH decline, you can only bring this up so much with exercise and diet, in reality you would be lucky if you can just maintain the levels naturally at a decent level through exercise and diet as you age. Unless you take added synthetic hormones to keep your levels to an level of healthiness your hormones will decline as you age. .

As someone with a back problem (2 surgeries) this year I do feel older... and slower... any feed back on how its helped you.. would be great!! .
While I have not had surgery this has helped my back, I can tell I stand taller. Reading her web page and reviews they suggest season 4 for beginners with back pain..
any suggestions on where to start if I can;t do any of these, beginning with feet apart, can't even do that. Haven;t touched my feet in years,.

Logic/common sense should tell you that if the muscles in the face are exercised, which as with any other muscle exercise, will cause the muscle(s) to grow and firm up, the larger firmer muscles will take up more space in your face, giving it a fuller and more toned appearance. . this lady does not know how to apply undereye cream...and please dont stretch your face...Rachel also sounds like that because she is a smoker :D.

And it's such a simple exercise! I will keep doing this many times throughout the day from now on. Thank you so much!!!! .
Thanks for the useful tips. Everything is ok as long as you are targeting the right muscle groups. there is more than one way to work a muscle :-).
I've seen different approaches to this exercise. One approach is to keep the head level & slide/glide it back unassisted. Another is to pull the head down into the chin tuck & hold. Still another approach is to hyper extend the neck backwards by letting it fall backwards over the edge of a bed or towel/pillow roll. Pls. Comment. Thnx..
